STREEM Program
(Science, Technology, Recreation and Environmental Education Mastery)
Teacher: Fritz/Art
Unit Plan:
To Energy Solutions
Dear Parent,
In this unit, our class will be focused on the use of “Green Technologies” for energy solutions. We live in a world where the needs for sustainable and renewable energy sources have become one of the most important environmental issues facing our generation.
Students will learn how to use reference materials from online websites, learn about sustainable resources, develop solutions for a clean environment, create green technologies, nurture responsible attitudes towards nature, and put green thinking into action. Students will also be shown video resources on current environmental issues to help promote critical thinking and build problem solving skills.
The project in this class will be for each student to complete a Green Guide outlining clean energy solutions. Students will create their own personal green guides which will be displayed at the ABLE School “Earth Day” Festival. Students will present their guides to the class for peer review and a final grade. Students’ projects will be evaluated using a rubric.
On the back of this page is a list of assignments, due dates, and the grading scale for your child in my class. Please sign and return the last page for student credit. Any questions or if you would be interested in chaperoning one of this unit’s field trips, please contact me.
