Dear Parents and Guardians,

First of all, we would like to thank you for enrolling your children in our school.  The Academy has provided superior public education in a small school setting for over 9 years.  We are a school of choice; providing students with a tuition-free educational option to the traditional public school system. With a beautiful campus, and excellent teachers, students at The Academy enjoy the benefits of a small, family-like private school atmosphere, but receive public funds as our primary revenue. We are the school of choice for your children.

As most of you know, our enrollment at The Academy is down this year.  This has the advantage of providing a small-school setting and giving your children more individualized, one-on-one instruction.  In addition, there are fewer behavioral problems and more opportunities for students to move into leadership positions.  The disadvantage is that it reduces our school revenue.  We have managed to reduce our operating costs considerably, but we will still need to fundraise to cover our overall expenses.  We have set ourselves a fundraising goal of $25,000 for the year.  A “Go Fund Me” account has been set up at:  In addition, we have received donations of $3000 from local business partners and student relatives.

You may not be aware of the fact that charter schools only receive approximately 70% of the State funding that the traditional district schools receive.  This is due primarily to the fact that the District does not share the millage income that St. Johns property owners pay towards schools.  Also, we will not be receiving any of the proposed ½ cent sales tax increase that will be voted on in the November 3rd special election.  This is not just a problem in St. Johns County, but throughout the State of Florida.  Our State legislature has left the sharing of millage revenue up to the county school districts and only three counties in Florida have opted to share with their charter schools.  Ours has not.  It has therefore become necessary to raise money through other means to meet the high costs of education.

We are increasing our exposure in St. Johns County by advertising through magazines, brochures, radio spots, radio interviews and direct mailings.  It is our hope that these measures will help to increase our enrollment and overall revenue.  We ask you to donate if you can and invite you to encourage friends, acquaintances and business associates to donate generously as well. We are a public charity 501(c) 3 and any donation can be used as a legitimate tax deduction.  I will keep you updated on our fundraising progress.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mr. Beebe at 904-826-1606 or PTO President Trish Creegan at 904-536-5531.
